The Wrens were group of women on the margins of Irish society: outcasts who lived in 'nests' amongst the gorse and bushes on the plains of the Curragh during the 1800s. Their lives were hard, they were shunned by society, and their survival depended on the compassion, solidarity, strength, and support shared between the Wrens.
